A Hemet woman and a Murrietta man received major injuries after the vehicle they were in rolled over on State Road 168 west of East Bishop Creek Road Friday, according to a California Highway Patrol report released this morning (June 14).
Emmy Vanderweide, 79, was driving in a 1992 Suzuki Sidekick with William Lombardo, 77, eastbound on the state road at about 55 mph. For unknown reasons, Vanderweide allowed the vehicle to run off the south road edge, turned to the left and the vehicle ran off the north road edge, overturned and came to rest on its wheels, facing in a southerly direction. Both were taken to Northern Inyo Hospital with major injuries.
