Use it or lose it; Lady Broncos softball
tourney fundraiser needs more teams
Softball teams can’t wait much longer to sign up for the Lady Broncos basketball team’s One Pitch Softball Tournament scheduled for July 27-28 at City Park. If by this Tuesday, July 23, more teams have not signed up, the tournament will be cancelled. Saturday’s play is round robin with a single-elimination series on Sunday. The team entry fee is $150. Public boat dock at Silver Lake removed
Citing safety concerns, the Inyo National Forest removed the boat dock from the public boat launch at Silver Lake on Tuesday.
Officials said in a press release that the structure “was no longer safe or functional. The dock was not attached to its anchor block, the float material located in the concrete cells was gone, and the dock no longer floated as designed. For these reasons, engineering staff from the forest removed the dock.”
The launch ramp is still in place. According to Andrew Jones of Silver Lake Resort, the absence of the dock “is not a big deal” in terms of lake access for anglers.
INF is working with the California Department of Boating to replace the dock. However, there is currently no plan or funding in place for this project.
