Darlene Rose Salas (Kennedy)
Darlene Rose Salas (Kennedy), 68, born in Oasis to the late Margaret Ruth Shaw and Herbert Kennedy. Darlene lived in Bishop for most of her life. She worked at the Bishop laundry for 16 years as a delivery bundler. She then worked for both the Texaco and Mobile gas stations in town for several years, before working at the Paiute Palace Casino, as assistant cage manager. Darlene worked at the Casino for more than 18 years.
In her youth she was a housewife, mother and 4-H leader. She had a fondness of bowling and softball. She enjoyed baking and crafts. She was married to her late husband Jack Thorpe and preceded in death by her brothers, John Miller and Rusty Kennedy; and sister, Judy Kennedy.
She is survived by her husband, Isidro âChiloâ Salas; sister, Georgia Kennedy-Elliott; brother, Louis Shoshone; sons, Clyde Patterson and Don Patterson; daughters, April Thorpe, Sammy Patterson (T.Pierce) and Venus Patterson; and grandchildren, Rosendo Salas, Tashina Salas, Leanna Thorpe and Stephanie Patterson. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, step-children, friends and many countless children whose lives she touched.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at Brune Mortuary. A reception will follow at the Barlow Lane Gym in Bishop.
