Ruth Marie Barney
Ruth Marie Barney passed into the arms of God on Feb. 13, 2014. Ruth was born in Los Angeles on May 18, 1923. Her parents were James and Theresa Madigan. Ruth met her future husband, Albert Rodgers Barney, at a roller skating rink. They married on April 11, 1942. Rodgers was a member of the U.S. Navy and shortly after their marriage, he was stationed in Hawaii. Ruth spent a large part of her life in Southern California with Rodgers and their three daughters. Ruth loved the outdoors and thoroughly enjoyed vacations in Sequoia as well as family road trips. Ruth was a foster mother to several infants. She cared for each of them from birth to the time they were adopted. She loved her work and was a wonderful â€śFirst Momâ€ť to these babies. Ruth and Rodgers moved to Bishop in 1978. She worked in the catalog department of Montgomery Ward and later worked at J.C. Penney. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Ruth had fun playing dominos with her neighbors.
Ruth was preceded in death by her two brothers, James and Joseph Madigan; and her husband, Rodgers.
She is survived by her three daughters, Diane Krafcheck Griffin and Kathleen Krejci both of Prescott, Ariz. and Irene Cameron of Bishop; grandchildren, Don and Susan Krafcheck, Steven and Jennifer Krafcheck, Amy Krafcheck, Dan and Heather Hendricks, Dennis Diocson, Anna and Tim Younghans, and Christine Cameron; and four great-grandchildren. One of her greatest joys was visiting with her family. She will be greatly missed and forever loved.
The Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. on Friday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Father John Gracey will officiate. Burial will be at East Line Street Cemetery.
