A Big Pine woman was arrested Monday for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol after she was rear ended by another vehicle on U.S Highway 395 at Keough Hot Springs Road, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
At around noon Monday Lauren Burek, 35, of Big Pine, according to the report, was driving northbound when she told officers she saw an animal run onto the roadway in front of her. Jennifer Berglund, of Portole, Calif., was diving with two juveniles in the vehicle behind Burek. When Burek began to slow her vehicle down to avoid the animal Berglund failed to see Burek's vehicle slowing and the front end of Berglund's vehicle struck the rear end of Burek's vehicle. All were transported to Northern Inyo Hospital where they were treated for minor to moderate injuries. Burek was placed under arrest for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, the CHP report states.
