Wilderness open house Tuesday

Staff Writer

The Inyo National Forest will be holding an open house next week to share the results of a Wilderness evaluation process.
Staff has identified three potential new recommended wilderness areas located in Inyo and Mono counties: east of Big Pine off Westgard Pass and in the Glass Mountains, covering McGee Meadow and portions of McGee Canyon.
The INF’s informal open house will be held Tuesday, June 9, from 6-8 p.m. at the US Forest Service Supervisors Office, 351 Pacu Ln., Bishop. The public is invited to stop by and talk to staff and view maps.
“There will be a brief presentation to help explain the process the U.S. Forest Service used,” a press release states. “This meeting is informational and there is no comment period associated with it.”
According to the INF, there will be a 90-day public comment period when the DEIS is released this fall.
